Selection from Queen Mary Falls

After trapsing around National Parks, wetlands, bush walks etc, Queen Mary Falls is a treat. The birdlife comes to you ... Bowerbirds, King Parrots ... a long list. The birds are accustomed to being fed by campers which explains their camera-friendly attitude. Great place for kids to see well-known wild birdlife up close and personal.

Great selection- the buff-banded rails down our way are all quite secretive along with the other crakes and rails

Thanks Ryu. The BBRails are generally shy, but they do come around if they see people often enough to generate trust. Yesterday I saw a pair at Eagleby wetlands and could not get closer than around 30 metres. This pair came within 5 metres of my caravan. The closer they get the more you see the detail in what is a truly beautiful bird.

Are there any signs advising campers not to feed the native birds, alcatraz?

Love those violet eyes on the Satin Bowerbirds.

No signs. The reception area offers parrot food (seed mixture) for sale. I understand this park has been going for many decades and has always had a lot of birds in the vicinity and encourages people to enjoy not only the birdlife but also koalas and kargaroos that frequent the property.

No great challenge. Just some fun before getting back to the hard slog of real birding.
