I was excited to spot a Square-tailed Kite last week, in Manly Dam National Park on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Excited because it was a beautiful bird, and because I later discovered that they're quite rare and that they’re not often seen around Sydney. I identified this one by the white markings around the face, and the characteristically long wing tips.
There are more photos and location details in my blog post: Square-tailed Kite at Manly Dam near Sydney.
I went looking for other sightings on the web, and saw some posts in this forum. So I've decided to share my sighting too!
Fantastic find Sarah, thankyou for sharing!
