Hi all,
This is not quite a sighting, more of a hearing. I was woken up in the very early morning this morning by the sound of an almost human-sounding screaming, but I could pick it as a bird call. This led fairly quickly (given the hour and the sound) to an identification as a Barking Owl.
I was just wondering if anyone knows if these are commonly found in suburban Brisbane? I've not heard them in my area before, although you quite often hear the Southern Boobooks around at night.
All the bird sounds have been quite interesting lately, but with screaming owls at 3am and singing butcherbirds at 4am, sleep is getting hard to come by...
