G'day Sabrina, I am posting a picture of a pale headed rosella. It doesn't have blue wings but has a blue body. I thought that it may be the bird you saw. I has a soft chirrup sort of call, certainly different from other parrots and cockatoos.

Hey Sabrina, welcome to the forum, just curious, do you mean a parrot with blue wings or the actual bird, the 'Blue-winged Parrot'. Cheers.
The parrots I saw were definitly smaller than the rosella and not blue though they had blue in their wings.it was a light green and had a small daintly face and beak.It was in the tree above me and underneath its body was a reddy orange marking. It had blue stripe/marking on it wings. it was smaller and unlike any parrots usually around. It sounded different to the parrots I usually see not as loud on the ear.
There was 3 of them and they didnt stay for long.

I looked up parrot images asap so it was fresh in my mind, and the blue winged parrot was identical, suprising though with them not being seen or commen as far as I know in Qld.
Seems a bit far East for them according to my field guide, so I was thinking perhaps a Turquoise Parrot. They look similar and the turwuoise parrot is more in your area so, just an idea.
sounds cool Sabrina. Half your luck.
