Channel Billed Cuckoo

Hi Guy's
Well the channel billed cuckoo is back only seemed like yesterday they flew back to PNG or Indonesia but it was March '08. How time flies guess we will just have to get used to them again for the next 6 months.
Still working on the photo side of things.
Cheers Helen (Coffs)

Hi guys,

Don't forget we have channel-bill and koel surveys on the Birds in Backyards website.

On the weekend I had someone tell me that they, that morning, found a koel chick that had fallen from the nest - largely feathered, just missing the tail feathers. Seems very early for a nearly fully fledged chick, but I could be wrong.

Hi everyone,
yesterday morning we had an injured male koel in our yard. Whether he had flown into a window or been attacked by another bird I don't know. There was blood on the fence near him, and after half an hour of us shooing the noisy miners and currawongs away from him he pulled himself together and flew off, pursued by a currawong.
This is on top of North Curl Curl / Dee Why headland.

The Koel has just arrived here, now the most dominant morning bird. Have never seen a channel-billed here!
Trying to spot the Koel but no luck yet...

G'day Heather, welcome to the forums.
You'll see plenty of Koels around Dee Why Lagoon. I heard a Channel-billed Cuckoo there last week.
