Koel chick

The last few mornings on my regular walk, I have seen what I am pretty sure is a female koel juv calling to a mummy figbird . it can fly but is small and stays in the same trees all the time. The Mum is busy dropping food to it from the branches above.... at least I think that is what she was doing. I was wondering if anyone had a photo of a young Koel and would that be teaching behaviour? Trying to get it to catch food, like insects? I am not even sure if Figbirds eat insects , will have to look it up.

Only had my phone so the pictures will be a non event.

cheers

Here is the photo of the chick and it sure is running it's foster mother ragged. The calls are incessant.

I am no expert, but I think most birds would eat insects from time to time if the opportunity arises. Surely, I think they are a good source of protein. :)

I can't see your image. You could always send me to

I'd love to check it out. :)

Just try copy pasting this into your address bar. I think they are available to the public.
By the way, today I saw two koel juvs within 30 meters of eachother. They don't loook big enough to migrate anywhere yet. They are still relying on the parents to feed them. Haven't seen or heard a Koel for a week or two I don't think.
