Life and death.

A pair of Tawny Frogmouths in our park has one surviving chick at nest (the other one disappeared a few days ago). I was photographing the chick on the unattended nest when one of the adult birds flew in from a nearby tree. It began to make loud clicking noises and was looking up into the canopy of the tree. The reason for the adult's alarm was a Pied Currawong which had landed nearby and was eyeing off the chick as a potential meal. I am pleased to report that the Currawong eventually left without harming the chick.

HI George
The babies will leave the nest very early I've had to put them in trees heaps of times here some years so look at all the low trees and even on sticks on the ground I had one sitting on the wood box one day.
