Nest raiding?

This is a nest that I believe to be the pied butcherbirds' nest. They have been feeding their young their for a few months but I think they have flown the nest now. This morning I was concerned to see 3-4 spangled drongos invading it and it looked as though they were eating something out of it. the gum is very high and I didn't have anything to see closer with me. Would they be raiding the nest? Then the local noisy miner brigade came and chased them away. Do they protect other's nests or would they have been just getting territorial? I didn't see them bothering the butcher birds when they were in residence there.

Noisy miners will chase and harass large birds from anywhere regardless of nest.

I wonder if there was a dead butcherbird chick in the nest that the drongos were eating?
