On 2 occasions in the last couple of days I've noticed a New Holland honeyeater hawking for insects among native grasses (mainly Stipa & Austrodanthonia) at our place. This might indicate that insect populations are now building up in our native grasses. It might also indicate that there are young New Holland honeyeaters nearby.

I'm watching ours closely - I seem to mostly see them doing that later in the afternoon - not sure if that's just because that's when insects are flying about more, or if it's just when I'm home!!
I'm pretty sure there are some nesting just over our back fence in a thick bunch of small shrubs. They are fiercely driving away EVERYTHING!
