Osprey behaviour

These shots are not good but record what I found to be interesting behaviour with the local Ospreys when I went to Point Cartwright last time.
The Osprey was calling, which in itself is a beautiful sound to hear to any bird lover down by the sea! I scouted the sky and found one on the wing and carrying his cargo of fish towards the nest. The one calling was sitting on the nest anxiously awaiting the food. He (or she) swooped in and dropped lightly on the edge of the nest allowing the other to take part of the catch into the nest for themselves. then he swooped away and did a big circle back to where he had come from towards the sea again. Just as I was pondering this it turned in a big arc and headed straight towards me carrying the remaining fish. there was a hill with trees to my right and it dropped down into them presumably to the eating tree and out of sight of the world. Along with the sighting of them picking up heavy sticks for nest repairs...it made for a fascinating study.

Here he swoops away..

off he goes back to where he came from

then heading for the trees to feast

Hi Araminta and Owen, they are fascinating to watch and it is great to have a live in pair that go about their daily routines in full view of us all. Araminta the pole nest was put their by these guys.... on this link

How good is that??? Sometimes those agencies we knock a lot,(sometimes rightly so!), do "good"! This one worked! I'm surprised the bird went back to the nest! good job!
