Parrots galore

Hi everyone

I went out the front this morning, about 11.30am, and in our very tall conifers we have in our front yard (about 7) I counted 12 King parrots and 12 lorikeets feeding on the "nuts" of the conifer trees. Every now and then a noisy miner would try and scare them off, to no avail.

It was a great sight. They all eventually flew off. Lovely to watch them feed and chat to each other.

Well the birds seem to have a liking for the nuts

Hi! Mick, isn't it great to come across that number of birds feeding in your own yard.

We have a couple of small conifers that produce similar "nuts". It attracts the Rainbow Lorikeets, Pale Headed Rosella's and this last summer one visit (that I saw) from a female King Parrot. We are on the south side of Brisbane, very much in the burbs, so I was surprised /delighted to see the King Parrot.

Somehow, seeing such spectacular birds at home is a real buzz, even though you can see hundreds at tourist spots where they are fed. Cheers!
