There was a grey shrike-thrush in the machinery shed this evening, I guess they must be nesting there again this year. This means that when I go in there they will try to scare me away. They make their body very rigid, with their beak pointing straight at me from above, usually about 50cm away on a rafter. Outside they swoop when they feel threatened, without making contact. They used to swoop my son on his motorbike all the time, he wasn't even near the shed.
They're still one of my favourite birds, very pretty and a melodic call.

You are very lucky to have them, have you seen their nest? They certainly do have a beautiful array of calls, I havent seen any in life but I wish I had :(
They are actually fairly common on the western side of the ranges in NSW.Once you know their call you hear them around a fair bit.
