This morning I saw a royal spoonbill in a creek near my place. Don't have a photo as I was out walking the dog at the time. I live in a northern Brisbane suburb no far from two creeks, a smaller one which empties into the larger Kedron Brook. After the famous 74 floods the Council dredged the smaller creek and lined sections of it with concrete for flood mitigation. Over time vegetation grew in places but this has recently been cleared. The spoonbil was foraging in the mud churned up by this activity. Have lived in this area all my life and have not seen a spoonbill here before.
