We have Superb Fairy Wrens feeding an almost twice as large young in our garden that (to me, and I could be wrong) rather looks like a Jacky Winter. Anyone seen similar?

hahaha,i don't know which one,but it's definitely a type of cuckoo,lol
Yes, platypus, well spotted. Those superb fairy wrens are foster parents to a cuckoo species which has been born in the wren nest at the expense of the wrens' own eggs. If you can get a detailed description of the cuckoo, especially as it matures, you might be able to identify which cuckoo species.
Thankyou guys - a cuckoo of course! It's almost heartbraking to watch the Fairy-wren working its tail off for that "little" monster.
But amazing to watch nature in full flight, so to speak.
