Have just come back from some camping and walking in the Warrumbungles Nat Pk North West NSW.
Fabulous weather and lots of birds around with standout being Turqoise Parrot (pair), White bellied Cuckoo Shrikes, Spotted Quail Thrush, many Speckled Warblers, and lots of apostle birds and White winged Choughsand the usual Emus at themain campsite.
I had three Wedge Tail eagles flying above and around me with a curious juvenile coming in very close to me for a look when I was on top of one the mountains. Few raptors otherwise, just kestrels.
If you get a chance particularly in spring, the Warrumbungles is a great place to go, fabulous scenery, flowers and birds.

Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

So jealous of the Turquoise Parrot sighting!
Have only ever been through the Warrumbungles briefly, never long enough to do them justice apparently! Will keep it on my list!
