I had an interesting experience this afternoon, while sitting at my desk. I heard a Willie Wagtail getting all noisy and excited outside and looked out the window to see it busily annoying and attacking a good-sized crow. (Off-topic: Torresian Crow perhaps, but I really have trouble picking the different crows and ravens apart).
The crow seemed almost oblivious to it's presence, and just kept pecking away at the corner of the gutter where it had it's eye on something, as the Willie Wagtail got more and more agitated.
Unfortunately for the Willie Wagtail, I guess it was nesting in the corner of the gutter there, as the crow finally seemed to find what it was after and pulled out something small that it placed on the roof, then flew off with. I presume it was the WW's egg, though I couldn't see it clearly.
The WW certainly put up a good, though ultimately fruitless, fight for it's size. I was a bit sad for the little fella, but that's just nature I guess.
They are a game little bird timmo that's for sure. Thanks for sharing.
