I'm pleased that I found this website by accident and thought I'd join. In the last few weeks I've noticed a large flock of Yellow-tailed black cockatoos in my neighbourhood in the outer south east of Melbourne. As well as flying around calling to each other, they visit Pine (pinus radiatus) trees on nearby properties, removing cones and small branches. It's fun watching them as they go about squawking and pulling branches off the trees. I haven't noticed them in previous years. Maybe their presence is something to do with drought in their usual location?
Send them north to my place Rosea, i'd love to photograph them. Beautiful birds, glad you get to see them.

Yep I agree with Bushy on that one. Rosea I think you are right about the drought and its effect on birds I am seeing the same with Pygmy Geese,Finches and Corellas.
Welcome to the forum.
I saw about 50 near Nundle in NSW a couple of days ago.
Some members of the Hunter Bird Observers reported a couple of hundred in the same area.

I have seen about 15 of them at the Hunter Wetlands Centre about a month ago.
