A corella and cockatoo caring for one another. I was fascinated to watch them preening and looking after each other for well over half an hour. In fact, the whole time I was at the picnic ground. They seemed oblivious to the rest of the birds around them.
It's not that common but dose happen occasionally,different types of cockatoos can pair up and even breed there young called hybirds often show traces of both parents.

Interesting thread and thanks Perthwings. And yes, the forum here has some work to be done. Links not working, it doesn't automatically log you in and the format for adding images, etc are considerably different to what you can do on other forums. I expect the software here needs upgrading but may be a time issue for the person/persons who run it.

I'm pretty sure Birdgirl2009 has had a few corella x galah hybrids drop in before. So maybe you'll have a sulphur crested corella :)
Well, they're not mind, they're in a park, but will be interesting to go back and see sometime.

Perthwings, its a bit of a jump to assume the fawn duck in your other thread is a hybrid. It just looks like an ordinary welsh harlequin duck to me. Trying to see things that aren't really there is a trap with birdwatching.
Kathie I love your photos. The white cockatoos can and do interbreed in the wild. Amateur is right - these photos are of wild ones that visited our backyard. Apologies to those who have seen them - I joined the forum in the first place so I could share my sightings of these unusual birds

Sorry, missed one. This one was from a different year. He has a different pattern, rather like marble, whereas the brothers above are a more uniform pale grey and pale pink with rosy cheeks. We have seen one or two babies, with or without the parents, in differnet years. The parents are probably the same ones that have paired for life
