I was hoping for some help. I was down on the southern highlands (Bowral, NSW) over the Easter weekend and was amazed when a continuous flow of flocks of birds - 20-30 birds per flock - kept on passing overhead, moving from south to north. They were flying just over top of open eucalypt woodland. They had following characteristics:
- 15-25cm in length
- square tail
- pointy beak
- 5 quick flaps of wings and then glide for a few seconds.
I was thinking they might be flycatchers or gerygones?
Has any one else seen these flocks?

Hi smallwhistler
Yellow faced honeyeaters, perhaps? They migrate in autumn in large numbers.
