Shot this video feeding a frogmouth in Cooktown, QLD last year. It had been rescued from the side of the road and lived on their property. It was free to fly around and did so occasionally, but mainly lived on that clothesline.
They fella living there told us it was a marbled frogmouth - can anyone confirm? The eyes seem correct for a marbled. Slater's Field Guide puts their territory slightly higher than Cooktown, but it's not too far off. Other options could be a Tawny or Papuan?

I think it's either Papuan or Marbled, they eye doesn't look yellow to me. Beyond that, I'm not sure. My guidebook suggests that Marbled frogmouths are found to the McIlwraith Range, and that's about 200km from Cooktown. How far away was the road it was rescued from?
I wan't to think it's a Marbled Frogmouth, it seems right, with the orangey eye, brown marbling lines on the breast and obvious eyebrow. But the rang is holding me back from being certain... Do you have any images of its wings?
Marbled sounds fair to me, based on size and eye colour.
The Morcombe app (and presumably book) suggests that the Papuan is a very large frogmouth at 50 - 60cm compared to 35 - 50cm for the other two species, so probably not a Papuan.

Nice one, thanks guys.
Not sure where it was found Lachlan, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been that far north. No pics of the wings - that vid is the only angle unfortunately. But given the size (it wasn't a huge bird by any means), happy enough to go with probable Marbled.
