I went out today and only saw one BOP fairly close, but it was a really good one. A wedge-tailed eagle flew closer to me than any ever have. And on the way home I noticed this lovely little falcon on a power line over a noisy road.

Looking at your great photo of the Wedge-tailed Eagle, the wing span is just amazing. Yours looks a lot bigger than the ones that fly over my house on ocasions.
The photo of the little Falcon, with the tail faned out, is absolutely beautiful.

I just had another look at the little Falcon, I think I took a photo of one yesterday, will not put it up though, as it is a bit blurry.
I need a lot more practice at taking photos of BOP to come anywhere near your quality of shots. Keep on posting them, I enjoy them so much.

I just love the Little Falcon shot its great with tail fanned out. Your Wedige shot is awesome it is one BOP that we have not had the pleasure of getting yet.
Hobby with the. Tail fan out timing just right. Shot of the day I guess? Down your way on Tuesday Wednesday hope to have a look around . Shortland wetlands still the go?
See it! Hear it!

Thanks everyone. Yes Darin the wetlands are good. I've seen whistling kites, white-bellied sea-eagles, grey goshawks and swamp harriers there. But look around the whole area as you drive - anywhere there are powerlines and paddocks. Today I saw 3 different black-shouldered kites and a nankeen kestrel just walking the dog and driving around (me not them!).
Great pics, both of them. Wish I could get pics like that.

Great shots Birdgirl
Very nice birdgirl, glad you got the Falcon photo because I have never seen one before in the wild and they look great. I was having a discussion about WT Eagles at work the other week and this guy said they are the largest Eagle in the world (wingspan) and after a quick google he was right. Amazing to look at as well.
