Western Victoria

Went for a drive over Easter to have a look at some of the conservation parks in western Vic, Hattah and Murray Sunset with a drive down to Lake Tyrell for a look as well.

Very dry over there as is in Adelaide and birds were a little hard to find but still had some luck.

Some firsts for me were Blue Bonnet,Pied Butcherbird, Little Friarbird and Mallee Emu Wren.

Couldn't find an Orrange Chat or Striated Grass Wren so they'll be for next time.

Highlight apart from the Wren was a small group of Regent Parrots coming in for a drink at a small dam in Murray Sunset right on dusk. Bit photo heavy again smiley

The more photos the better smiley It sounds like it was a great trip!

Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a great trip.

Apart from the Butcher Bird and Little Friar the rest would be firsts for me too.

It would be good if you could name the birds somehow as some of these I am unfamilar with.

Cheers

I agree with Elsie, the more photos the better. I'm suprised that Pied Butcherbird and Little Friarbird were two firsts for you. Just goes to show how much we take our local species for granted I suppose. It's always a buzz to photograph a new species.

Devster - your wish etc, after you upload your pic a title field appears just for that purpose, move your mouse over my pic, I have put a Bluebonnet ssp haematorrhous (red-vented) to compare to Rick's ssp haematogaster (yellow-vented)

Some people put an ID on  and some don't. Mine will most likely have the ID assigned by the camera, unless I change the title when I upload to Photobucket (that's what I use instead of flickr). Rick's provides a link to his smug mug account. I use iPad and so can't hover the mouse, but for those who do put the ID in the picture title, it will display if I tap and hold, comes up with a box asking if I want to open in a new tab etc.etc. at the top of this box will give the information the uploader has for the title in their host account. Pacman (Peter) for example does provide the ID, and sometimes location, rawshorty does not, it gives the information of his flickr photo title, but shorty usually puts a title in the footer of the photo. I agree ID is a good idea for those who have not been treated to some of these species before.

Just my 2 cents worth, and sorry to hijack!

Thanks all for your comments and feedback re naming. Will look into the best way but I'm thinking a simple text line above each image. Cheers.
