On a wet but still day the Laratinga Wetlands deserved a visit, and with the rain lately the ponds have filled nicely.
Ducks are back, Pacific Black,Grey Teal,Shoveler,Hardhead and half a dozen Freckled looking ready to breed.
New Holland and White Plumed Honeyeaters giving each other a hard time rounded out the afternoon.
Great variety of shots ... love that little grebe.
They are great shots Rick where are the Laratinga Wetlands?
Thanks WD,rozkidd.
WD, spent ages trying to get a decent shot but I swear these guys have esp. He would come just to the edge of the reeds but not into the open. Only got about four clear shots in an hour.
rozkidd, Laratinga Wetlands are on the outskirts of Mt Barker, about 30k South East of Adelaide.
I know exactly what you are talking about. As soon as a bird spots you with a camera they ALWAYS give you the "back" view.
I have been trying to get a good shot of an Eastern Whipbird and it seems as though they are playing a game of "here I am,
no sorry I am 90deg away and now I am back where you first saw me". Each time I see them it is a fleeting glimpse not long enough to get a good photo. Maybe photographing the birds that are camera shy would be a good Photo challenge.
Thanks for the information about the wetlands, I have the Corrong on my list of bird places I must visit, so maybe the Laratinga Wetlands
should be on that list.
Fantastic! Love the shots of the New Holland Honeyeaters! Will have to take a trip someday!

Superb Rick. Boy those Freckled Ducks are good looking Ducks. I am hearing you about Grebes, the ones I encounter are very cautious and timid.
