Tiny little bird (photographed through flyscreen and dirty window, sorry) near Castlemaine, Central Victoria. We do have babblers here, but this looks different. Can anyone tell me what it is?
It might be quite common, but I'm new to this!

striated pardalote
Thank you for such a quick reply. It looks like there's a pair of them nesting in a hole drilled in the sandstone wall of my house even though I'm on a bush block of 7 acres surrounded by eucalypts!
Striated Pardalotes nest in a tree hollow or tunnel in a creek bank, other bank or crevice in a building; have fun watchung the parents going to and fro

They once nested in the air brick of the ANZ building in Mt Barker, SA. Sometimes they nest in holes in banks, too.
P.S. We were all new to something once upon a time, rvdallwitz. Being on a bush block you'll have lots to observe & report on, no doubt.
Nice find, you are lucky to have them nesting nearby

Have seen a couple nesting in the ground right next to a Rainbow Bee-eaters nest last Xmas in WA.
We have them nesting in gravestones in Samford.
