My first thought as well.
Lookes like a smoked fish to me, the Eagle is probably looking for some mayonnaise now

Hard to tell on that angle and with the mouth so obscured by talons. My lack of fish knowledge may also be a factor ;)
Maybe some sort of Bream?

Not familiar with NT fish, but bream is what it looks like. Cannot ID to species level though.
