On Sunday i found a pair of Spotted Quail-thrush, not a rare bird but hard to spot and more common in the mountains.

Now i just need to find a Malleefowl tomorrow to really set the week off :))
Wow! Those are great finds! I wish I was as lucky as you, Shorty. Hope you see a Malleefowl :-D
...Nice pictures! I love the one with the Grey Goshawk staring into the camera.

That really is a good weeks work. Quail Thrush is a beauty!
Awesome birds, its very cool that you got to see a white morph goshawk! I hope that I see a Malleefowl too but that isn't very likely especially since im in Sydney :)
I don't know how you do it Shorty! And great pics too

A Spotted Quail-thrush! Simply maaarvellous, Shorty. That species is now almost certainly extinct in the Mt Lofty Ranges where the last one was seen in 1981, it's believed. See http://www.environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/sprat/public/publicspecies.pl?taxon_id=67099.
great birds and pics, that Spotted Quail-thrush is so good, how do you get so close?
I would have to check with Rick but can give you Malleefowl location in exchange for Spotted Quail-thrush location
Peter
That really is a good weeks work, I'd love to get a Grey Goshawk. The Quail Thrush is a great photograph and interestingly I was only told this morning about a local spot that is good for SQT (I hadn't even heard of them until then) so I'll have a look in the morning.

Thanks everyone,
I dipped on the Malleefowl but didn't have my hopes up finding one in Canberra :)
Woko, that is sad news indeed.

Yes, Shorty, it is indeed. It's amazing that such a beautiful creature can be seen by South Australian society as quite without value, either monetary or intrinsic.
Wow Shorty, what a week. I too love the spotted quail thrush. Looks like you were lying down to get that shot.
Thanks, Devster. Standing up but on a hill.

The colours and detail on the Quail are excellent. How do you find the time Shorty? How do you do it?
Barney.
Thanks Barney,
I find the time as i only work 3 days a week, as for getting the birds it is lots of time spent out and about and lots of luck :)

Thanks Elsie,
