Rick, I should have chosen my words better and said wait until he is in full breeding colour, I have had a few WWFW sightings and in my opinion they are the most secretive, though there are a few sp that I have yet to see.
Oh wow, brilliant captures Rick. So lucky, I'm guessing you may have put a few hours in at times to get your shots. I have a couple of elusive ones in my sights, but alas no good eyeful/lensful yet. Persistence and patience pay off though with some of these trickier species though hey. Good luck with your revisit to these guys. So lucky to have the whole range of Wrens that we do in Australia, certainly one of my favourite species of bird.
Rick you will have to go back until you see a breeding male, they are however still secretive
Peter
Peter, This was one of two birds, the other looked like a female but no other birds around.
Watched them for quite a while, just the two.
Will he fully develop then in the absence of a full breeding male, or am I just not seeing the other birds?

My pic does not do him justice
Peter
Thanks for that clarification Peter. I have planned to follow him as he is only about half hour away and reasonably hard to get to.
Have seen him and the female twice in the same location within the last week so I think they are settled.
Great photos ... well done finding them.
Love the last one.

Thanks all. Annie, many hours
but it's all fun and the thrill of the chase.
The one I had seen before was really just a blue and white blob in the distance
so was nice to be able to get a bit closer. This guy was also in the area looking
for birds unfortunately.
