local site, great action around the nest but the young are soon to start catching mice on thier own an leave. Spent about 30 mins with them and so much activity, a constant stream of mice from the parents, and the juveniles perfecting their flight.

Great set of shots! Thanks for sharing.
Interesting shots. 3 youngsters will keep the parents busy catching food for them.

Fantastic photos - thanks for sharing them here. Wonderful to see the photos, so must be amazing first hand.
The adults are very beautiful birds, but the colour scheme of the juveniles is superb as well, with that bronze on the neck and head.
Amazing pictures and well caught action. How did you ever tear yourself away? Thanks for sharing them. Sue
No need for mouse bait in your area, miccro. By the way where might "local" be?
Thanks all,
Local is Fremantle western australia, the site is Bibra lake.
more from the kites, they are learning to hunt on their own now and alot of air to air mouse grabs, this time the parent managed to land before the exchange.
Another series of stunning shots... what striking birds. It will be interesting to see when the juveniles eyes go red. What equipment are you using to get such pictures? Sue

Thanks miccro. Thanks for the great photos, too.
Those are just gorgeous photos. One of my favourite birds of prey, and so wonderful to watch the juveniles growing up. :)
no fear in a young kite learning to hunt.....
Is this not an Australian Kestrel?
ha yes i think it is! i just assumed it was one of the young kites.... very simmilar from below. Wow well it was fearless aswell. i wondered why the other birds werent joining in and assumed it was just the domminant bird of the young but it quite clearly isnt.
thankyou very much for pointing it out, im actually more pleased that its another bird and i have the kites to come.
