I enjoyed my time at this lagoon while my husband did the Stockmans Hall of Fame in Longreach. Sorry no pictures of birds in the rain as there has been little on our travels.
We have had a great time with varying roadside birds such as Brolgas, Pratincoles, Bustards and now Emus amongst the endless Kites and Eagles. Surprisingly few Sarus Cranes up in Karumba. Now at Charleville where they finally had some rain last week. Wonder what I might see ttomorrow. Sue
Some great shots there. Any shots of a crane or Brolga?
Excellent shots Sue. Now that's a great name that just rolls off the tongue, Lily Lagoon. Wish I was your luggage carrier Sue with the gorgeous variety you are seeing during your travels. I have never seen a Shoveler before, nor many of the others of course, but that Shoveler beak looks pretty amazing in profile, just keeps going and going! The Pinocchio's of the Duck world perhaps, haha.

That would have been four firsts for me. You can see where the Shoveler gets its name from. That's some beak!

It must have been lovely to see all these beautiful birds Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the feedback people. When I can get a good connection it is great to see all your photos as well. As to Tim's question, no cranes (Brolas or Sarus) seen at the lagoon but very dry around there. There was one Sarus Crane flying with the Brolgas in Karumba so I have added it for Tim. You can see the extra red on the neck of the lead bird but the leg colour is not obvious. I was pleasantly surprised to see another Nankeen Night-heron here on the Warrego river in Charleville and I will post the Yellow-throated Miner separately as it is a fun shot. Sue
