For me it's very hard to tell, the colours look manipulate. I would love to see the Robin in the original state. Looks like a Yellow Robin (with a lot of blue added) to me.

short answer - yes, it is a Pale Yellow Robin; long answer - thanks for posting and thereby getting me to look up Pale Yellow Robin; I thoguht that I had only 1 photo opportunity but I have had 4; I will attach 3 pics, not very good but in deep rainforest; 1 thought that they are much smaller than the Eastern Yellow Robin but the guides say PYR 13cm and EYR 15-16cm.

Lovely find, I've never seen one of them. I guess with small birds, a few centimetres of size make a larger difference (from 'Wow, that's a small bird' to 'Wow, thats a really small bird'.

Good job just getting a clear photo in Mary Carincross Reserve, there always seems to be very little light in there, and all the birds are very small. So basically, it's a photographer's nightmare of a reserve. Although, it is an utterly stunning reserve; lots of that country up on the Connondale and Blackall Ranges is utterly spectacular. And, the tourist shops in Montville are lots of fun. Are you staying up there much longer, Rbtbest? If you are, there is a blog

http://sunshinecoastbirds.blogspot.com.au/

which is written by a guy who lives on the Sunshine Coast. If you trawl through the archives, you can find some really nice suggestions about good places in the region to go birding. The Sunshine Coast is (in my opinion) one of the most truly wonderful parts of Australia, and it is a pity that it is gradually being turned into the Gold Coast. Sad, but perhaps inevitable, as people have to live somewhere.

I'm from Western Sydney (Macarthur region, to be specific; Western Sydney is a big place), but I have passed through Walcha a couple of times (and stopped), as it it on one of the convenient routes from here to South East Qld (Thunderbolt's Way). I think (going to Toowoomba) its about as fast as New England Hwy + Putty Rd.
