lorikeet spinning around perch randomly

One of my lorikeet's randomly started spinning around its perch without any behaviour beforehand to indicate this was going to happen. What would have caused it to do this? What would have went through it's mind?

I assume when you write "my lorikeets" you have caged birds. If so you might be on the wrong forum, ausquerila. Birds in Backyards is about the beauty & delight of birds in the wild, their natural behaviour & attracting them to your garden or property. I imagine there are forums about caged birds which you could visit & find an answer to your question.

Do you realise this is on the general forum? I'm sorry if that offends you.

Edit: there are pied currawongs around the same area and it seems to become a bit hyper/nervous with them around. Why would this be?

No offence taken, ausguerila. I was trying to get you to the most helpful website.

The question of the lorikeet being nevous when Pied Currawongs are around perhaps relates to the fact that Currawongs predate the nests of other birds. Is the lorikeet most nervous at breeding time?
