a red whiskered bulbul?

Would i be right in saying that this is a redwhiskered bulbul?  I have not seen one before, I was walking where i often walk in inner west Sydney and saw a few of these birds which was exciting to me becasue i usually don't see any thing other than lorrikeets and noisy miners.  Its not a great photo I know, but useful for id?

There was also (i think) another bird with a crest, but with out the red, only white breast and brownish wings. Not completley sure, it may have been in the poor light just another one of these.

Yes you are right with the id - great looking bird.

I have seen them where Wolli Creek joins Cooks River. If you are able to get down to Cooks river you will find some more interesting birds such as cormorants, pelicans, egrets, and defintely fairy wrens. Easy to get around as there is a great walkway along by the river.

Another suggestion - if you are looking for a area near the inner west with more variety of birds  - is the Eve Street cycleway which goes past the Landing Lights Wetland and then along both sides of muddy creek  - depending on time of year you will get a few waders, variety of honey eaters, maybe cisticolas, fairy martins and I have seen goshawks there too. In muddy creek there will be cormorants. For landing Lights wetland  - https://www.rockdale.nsw.gov.au/environment/Pages/Environment_LLProject.aspx

Another also spot is the  cycleway/walkway on the botany bay side of foreshore road from mill stream up to Penrhyn Estuary where there is a very well constructed viewing area for seeing shorebirds. The times i have been there have not been any shorebirds but as is often the case a few unexpected bonuses such YT Black cockatoos in the banksias at the entrance to the bird hide, and a osprey perched on the container port light towers, and some red capped plovers down by mill stream.

Oh i didn't know it was an introduced bird.  Thank you for that.

And thanks so much for the suggestions re sites.  I am always on the lookout for places to go, and have been meaning to get to the Cooks River as there is a walk way all the way from Haberfield area, (don't have a car).  That's great.
