A few shots from my new lens

I purchased a Sigma 120-300 two weeks ago. Although its kind of a monster weighing nearly 3Kgs, I am satisfied so far ... good value for money compared to those exotic primes !!

Here are a few shots taken over the past few days around Lake Macquarie:

Hi Nahar, wow, I'm speechless. Faaaantastic. I love the reflection of the Spoonbill, the plumage of the Egret, and the Darter screaming , (or is she chucking up?),  great work.

About the weight of the lens, you will get sore joints for some time, but then you WILL develop muscles where you never had any before.

Thank you Araminta once again for your appreciation and help in identification of some of them.

I totally agree with Amarinta, my favourites would have to be the Egret with his breeding plumage, and the reflections of the Royal Spoonbill. Just spectacular! Thanks for sharing.

Hi grohlster, I like "Amarinta", sounds like a very expensive exotic dish ,only served in high class restaurants. (if you know where to get it, let me know, I'm on my way) LOL

Well Nahar...that is a very impressive list of birds you have shown there. Great that you have a new lens to play with.

I love the spoonbill and his refelection best of all. Dollarbird is great too ..they are all good!!! Nicely captured.

If i could just make one suggestion that would be kind to those who do not know their birds but who love to look through this forum...... could you ID the birds under the photo so that we can educate people as well??? Thansk so much , that would be great.

I know where I wil be heading next time I am in Newcastle!!!

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments,

Birdie - Your suggestion of ID is very pertinent for members like us (I mean newbies). I did label the names of the birds. If you hover the mouse on an image the name pops up. Alternatively, click the mouse on an image to go to "large view" when a small bar at the bottom pops up with the name.

I uploaded all the images together - and that did not give me any chance of putting any text in between individual photos. Is there any way to do that other than uploading the images one at a time?

I will be happy and keen to go out together if any of you are in Newcastle area  - thats a standing invitation ...

Hi Nahar.... I didn't notice the captions as I am so used to the old forum that it is 2nd nature to just scroll down the page.

You should find it easy to just go to the edge of the photo and press return and it should insert a space and you can either do it in edit or I think at the time of posting them. I always post several together and I am fairly sure I was able to do it.

Thansk for the invite .... you never know one day it may happen . Birdgirl2009 and I have not made it yet but she is in Newcastle and one day we will definitely get out together ( even if it is just so I can hassle her for the use of her EF 100-400L LOL

Good to see so many new people here.  It is always good to have a narrative and have some  humour here even in the photo Forum.

I'll be visiting Lake Macquarie mid March as I head down the east coast, I might just bump into you Nahar!

You can be sure to show me the best bird spots. :)

Thats great. I will be around at that time. Let me know the date/s once you finalize your programme. Please note I am a newbie - but I can certainly take you around a few places !!!
