Hi, I was sitting at my computer last night and heard a definate Cuckoo-cuckoo noise right outside. I live in Ingle Farm outer suburbs of Adelaide. He was in my backgarden, high up in the huge claret ash. From what I could see he was quite a big bird but couldn't tell what sort of markings. He seemed stocky and owl like with a shortish tail. Could someone help me out. Do all cuckoo's make the cuckoo noise? Thanks.

Thanks very much, that is definately him. When I saw the photo I knew that's who I had been looking at. I was able to shine the torch near him on the night, not on him. He has a lovely call. Now I know why I couldn't find him when I looked in cuckoos!
