Confirm these birds

I think I know these birds but want to confirm.
Taken in beach scrubland on NSW central coast.

Juvenile Dollarbird ?

Black faced cuckoo shrike? (bad quality photos)

Hi Magpie.
I can confirm both species.
Not sure about juvenile DB or not. You 're probably right, as adults have more greenish-blue, and bright red beak.
.
The Cuckoo Shrike is missing a tail feather - that's not a normal "forked" tail effect.
Cheers

Yes thats what had me questioning the cuckoo but glad i was right about that one!

It looks like a dollarbird doesnt it?
although a young one he can certainly catch prey!

Yes, Magpie
Christmas Beetles are easy catches - which is probably just as well. It helps give the baby Dollarbirds a start in life.

Friarbirds love them, and Currawongs too.

Cheers

I thought it looked like a bee or a wasp with its big orange body. I actually saw him flying around catching it.
