Would you like that upsized?

I took these a few weeks ago & I was laughing so hard at this guy, as he was almost tipping backwards trying to get this monster out - laughing so hard I chopped his feet off in the shot!  I expected the worm to either come out & be quite short - ie he was stretching it - or it to snap.  But it just kept coming & coming and indeed was quite possibly almost the longest worm I've seen - I have seen longer in the garden from time to time.

Perhaps there is the answer, in nature, as to why I have (ahem) expanded a little since moving over here - there's something in the soil....winklaugh

I love Kookaburras, and this one is gorgeous. They can stretch a wormsurprise, make it go on for ever. Lovely photos.

Me too M-L.  The funny thing is though, this particular worm wasn't stretched, yet wink.  We dig them up in the backyard frequently at almost a foot long.  Makes a nice meal for the birds though. smiley

Edited to add:  Just after I posted this was speaking with a friend who seems to think they're a Giant White Earthworm, but an introduced species.  What?  Introduced worms?  I'd like to know if that's true and why.  If so, makes you wonder what else has been snuck in and what effect, if any, it will have in years to come.  Little like the Bumble Bee here in Tas.  Now I LOVE the Bumble Bees - but still wish they had never been "accidentally" introduced 20 or so years ago.  They have a habit of chasing Spotted Pardalotes out of their burrows for one thing......and then there is their impact on the native bees...crying
