Hello!

Hello everyone!

My name is Nicole and I am not actually from Australia but live in North Carolina (I know, a Yank). I participate in a program called Project Feederwatch and I basically record the birds that come to my backyard feeders and report them to Cornell University. They set up a forum for us that is very similar to this one. When I first started learning to ID birds, I posted several photos and asked "the experts" for help quite often. As I learned how to identify birds using their field marks, I began to use the forum as a second opinion. I joined this forum in the hopes that all of you might be able to help me in much the same manner as my forum-mates have here.

I visited Australia last May and am just putting the finishing touches on my scrapbook. I have oodles of bird photos that I would like to properly label in the album. I am hoping that I might be able to get your thoughts and opinions on my attempts at identification. Thanks so much!

Nicole

P.S. If you have any questions or would like links to helpful sites for N. American birds, I can gladly supply them for you. I currently live in NC but I grew up in Canada:-)

Hi Cath and Shane! I love sharing my photos and have actually noticed that quite a bit of the birds I get in my yard are similar to what you get (no parrots though). I have a photo sharing site on Shutterfly. I have put the link on my signature line but it does not show up as a link. You can easily cut and paste it into your browser and that will work just fine. I am also going to paste the link of the backyard feeding forum that I use at home which has a section of photos that you can look through as well. Not all of the pictures are top knotch but we are all so passionate about our birds that we are eager to share our sightings and news with each other. Much like this site, you can browse and see whatever you like but won't be able to post comments unless you become a registered member. I hope you enjoy both sites and please let me know what you think!

Nicole
