Gday all from SW Toomoomba

Hi, I live on an acre block with a small farm behind us, on the south western side of Toowoomba, lucky to have lots of native trees and shrubs. I'd rate myself as a beginner with bird knowlegde.

Hey, Scott. Welcome to Birds in Backyards. If you're looking to learn more about our native birds then this is a great place to be.

Do you have a bird field guide? If not, I recommend you get hold of one if you can because it can help you learn to identify what you're seeing in your neighbourhood. Field guides also contain lots of tips & tricks about bird watching. Sing out if your need some recommendations. Your nearest library may have field guides which you can compare. A pair of binoculars is also a great thing to have because when you see birds up close & personal their beauty will blow your mind.

Good on you for having lots of native trees & shrubs to provide habitat for the birds at your place. There's a real connection between native, especially indigenous, vegetation & the birds which use it.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions, seek any information or make any comments. Curiosity is a wonderful thing. And don't forget that we were all beginners at some stage.
