Dusky Moorhen chicks

Went to Doug Larsen Park in Beenleigh yesterday and found quite a few Dusky Moorhen chicks and their parents in the lake. Luckily I was able to get near to them and managed some close-up shots of these chicks that are just showing signs of wing development.

Very cute! Is that mum in the last photo telling him to hurry up?

With quite a few chicks I think the parents were a bit frustrated trying to keep track of them all, as well as trying to feed them when they were demanding food. Interesting to watch. Just like people really!

I think the beak colouring of the 'mum' is still too young to be a mum, maybe a older sibling?

Love how you have coptured the colours, particulary the blue eyebrow which I've never noticed and probably only there for a brief span of their development

Yes, I think you are probably right with that Ryu. I took images of mum and dad, but this one had more appeal!. Cheers Muzz

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Maybe an older sibling
