Glossy black-cockatoo sightings inland suggest tough times for rare Australian bird species

Birdwatchers in New South Wales say they're excited to have spotted the rare glossy black-cockatoo in areas where the birds aren't usually seen, but warn it's a sign of serious challenges for the species.

The glossy black-cockatoo is listed as a vulnerable species in NSW, and is considered one of the more threatened species of cockatoo in Australia.

Glossy black-cockatoos have been sighted in inland towns such as Bathurst and Lake Cargelligo.
