Home ›Creating Places for Birds
Birds need a home (habitat) to live, breed and bring up their families. This means food, shelter, water and nesting sites, which are normally provided within the complex structure of their 'natural' environments. But what about environments that are heavily modified by people? How can we provide suitable habitat for birds (and other wildlife) in our own backyards, parks, bush reserves and wider communities? This section looks at what we can provide in our gardens and how we can work together within our communities to plan for bird-friendly spaces throughout our local areas. Ultimately this will benefit all wildlife as well as ourselves.
