any chance of an ID on this one?
Using bird finder I think it may be a Horsfield Bronze Cuckoo but the call is different. It sounded almost like butcherbird chatting away.
It bounces across the ground chasing insects moving from bush to bush. It's tail is quite long.

Hi Daggert, it looks like some sort of babbler to me - grey-crowned?
I think your onto something there Holly!
The only one around this area I took photo would be White-Browed. How exciting, I love new birds.
Photo taken Kalannie which is north east wheatbelt WA.
Yeah that sounds like them. Thanks Holly.
Glad to help Daggert, I thought it looked babbler like but grey-crowned are the only ones I have seen in the flesh and I didn't think it looked quite right.
Holly
It's a white-browed babbler all right. We have a flock that regularly forages under our trees. They are not as messy as blackbirds but pretty close.
Regards,
bushie.
I love the noises they make. I wish I had them here.
I don't know if the other species of babbler make similar sounds but whoever named these guys babblers was spot on. They seem to chatter away to each other incessantly.
Regards,
bushie.
