I am a new member to this site and also a very inexperienced bird watcher, however my fascination is Owls.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any owl sanctuaries or bird parks in Sydney or surrounding area, where you can get can up close and personal experience.
I did this once in Gloucestershire in the UK, where me and my partner went out with the bird keeper (?) at dusk and fed them and had them fly around and land on our hawking glove (not sure of the proper terminology).
So does anyone know where i can do something similar, or even get remotely close to owls in a captive environment??
Thanks in advance,
owlfan
Welcome
We get the occasional report of Owls.
One tonight, as it happens.

Tawny frogmouths aren't owls
There is a park out at western sydney, near Parklea. Not sure what its called, but they have many captive birds in aviaries. I dont think they allow you to help with fefeeding though, but it gives you a chance to get closer.
Good suggestion magpie, the park I think you're thinking about is Featherdale Wildlife park. They have about 5 or 6 Owl species iirc.
