Bird of the Week Challenge: 8th August - Birdy Olympics

Hi all - its Monday so its new challenge day!

This week's theme is the Birdy Olympics, inspired of course by Rio. So lets see some photos of birds with a real or imaginery Olympic event that captions it. Perhaps it is a Pied Butcherbird going for gold in the 'best bird call' category. You make it up!

(I got inspired by #greyhoundolympics on twitter - I took a photo of my boy going for gold in 'marathon snoozing').

I hope you don't mind Holly but this is a 3 part event. The pipe walking event!

Starting out - Look at that concentration

And back - Whoops, nearly fell

He's done it - Put your wings together for Whistling Duck and his amazing pipe walking.

Some great photos and very clever events. The Fencing made me laugh Greg, very witty.

Yes some clever shots, the marathon for me was very clever. I clearly need a larger format camera to keep up with all of you. I feel privileged to be viewing such great quality photography. Cheers G

Power walking or speed walking is the act of walking with a speed at the upper end of the natural range for the walking gait, typically 7 to 9 km/h (4.5 to 5.5 mph).....why anyone would want/choose to do this is beyond me.

I have enjoyed these so much, if they were on youtube they'd 'go viral'.
