The bird that took off just as you took the photo, the slightly blurry shot, the ones that could have been amazing but didnt quite work 
Overcast day, poor light out of focus, long way off, heavy crop, NOT MUCH WENT RIGHT really.

Sounds like an absolute disaster dwatson, yet it had so much potential!
This Rufous Fantail may as well be another nondescript part of the leaf litter - invisible and out of focus. He was just too quick. Good luck finding it!

Here is a potentially great shot, that just turned out to be an epic fail.
I could blame poor lighting, etc, but this time it was just plain old hoplessness on my part.
Thought I'd stick with the theme of the notoriously difficult Rufous Fantail for the first photo - I must have tried dozens of times to photograph this pretty little bird - always so difficult...Glad to see others in the same boat.
As for the second photograph - the first and last time I've ever seen the super-Endangered Regent Honeyeater - I snapped this photo too early - before it landed on the branch. And my hands were shaking at the time. You can forgive my excitement.

, but I can see your little Fantail (just), boy they sure are well camouflaged amongst that leaf litter! No idea on your second mystery bird though....someone in the Dove or Pigeon family??
I had so many duds to choose from
, this might have been interesting if I'd at least got an eye in focus, shutter speed too slow.

But imagine what a good photographer would made of a brave willie wagtail swooping in with eyes fixed on its target, seeking to drive off the dreaded raven - and see what I got!
Meet Brian, he is a Black Swan that I have now come across several times. He has a wing issue, and has some difficulty feeding. We regularly need to clean his lower bill of grass and weed debris, which builds up, and externally looks like a tumour. I have posted him before, but in this one, he turned his head as I was pushing the shutter button, giving me the "cold shoulder" look.
