WERRIBEE WADERS 5

...AND MORE.....

More waders. Tough... I'm better with bush birds..... Anyway I'll have a crack again!

Number 3 might look slightly different.... Are they the same bird? And the legs in number two don't look quite as "yellow" as the others, but otherwise looks like the same bird...

For photos 1, 4, 5 and 6 (and possibly 2) I'm thinking Pectoral Sandpiper....

Number 3 - I'm sure there are other defining features that will be obvious to others!

Interestingly, according to Owl of Kedumbas chart

http://awsassets.wwf.org.au/downloads/sp133_australian_shorebirds_identification_sheet_20nov07.pdf

Looking at the breast

1, 2 and 3 = streaked breast tend to end gradually = Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
4, 5 and 6 = streaked breast tend to end abruptly = Pectoral Sandpiper

Sorry if this is more and more confusing, seems we are all learning here.

I think all Sharpies

yes, I was fishing for Pectorals. These photographs were odds and ends and to me a possibilty of being Pectorals. The first three I had hoped might be something other than Sharpies so were just a long shot. The last three I thought a good chance and after reading the first of comments seemed might be on the right track....showed to another bird watcher today...who said they were all sharpies.......so guess until I actually see a Pectoral I'll just keep guessing. But did take some shots todaywhich may be more promising.
