The Campbell Park Nightjar has moved into the hollow she nested in last year so fingers crossed she is going to have more soon.
While watching her on Monday morning i had an amusing (to me) behaviour sighting.
She was at the entrance soaking up the sun.

Then a bee headed towards her hollow and she watched the bee approach her tree.

When the bee landed at the entrance she leaned back and did not move or take her eyes of it for the several minutes it was there.

When the bee left she watched it fly away and gave a look like " and don't come back or i'll have you next time"

Then it was time for a good scratch to relieve the tension of the traumatic experience :)

Classic Owlet-nightjar pose. And feral bees will certainly set up shop in valuable nesting & shelter hollows. Hopefully, the Owlet-nighjar's presence was sufficient to cause the bee to buzz off. And never return.
Nice photos, why can't one of them set up shop up here in Brissie :(
didn't Reflex find 1 at Osprey House?
else find an excuse to go to Canberra, maybe your Federal pollie needs a hand, but make sure that you have 2 days there as Shorty won't guarantee that you will see it on day 1

Ha ha ha. That's the same look I give a bee when it's nearly in my face and tries to go inside my house. But I wave my hands around like an idiot preventing it from going inside - in the worst case scenario.
I'm at Tenterfield, NSW. (Formerly known as "Hyperbirds".)
Yeah he did but it's not there anymore. Every time I went it never came out.
There's at least one out at Gap Creek Reserve on the back side of Mt Coot-tha, though I haven't seen exactly where it (or their) hollow is. Most times we go out for a night mountain bike ride, we see one on the track presumably looking for food and it scatters up to the overhanging trees as we go past.
Cheers
