Lake Cargelligo Wrens

Spent my last days off up at the Lake, always nice to get birds that i can't get local. Here are some shots of the 3 varieties of Wren i got.

Quality shots. Did you end up buying the Canon 100-400 mk11?

Happy with it?

I'm actually thinking about buying one. Perfect lens for Pelagic trips and I can't believe how quick the auto-focus is.

I have mixed feelings. I was very happy with my old Sigma and now i am 100mm shorter. Focus is very quick but only in good light, if light isn't good in sometimes hunts and when it does boy is it slow and i mean sloooooow, but you would expect that from a zoom. It seems that when i had problems with the Sigma Sport, it was actually my 1Diii that was the problem as i had the same issue with the Canon on it so i am back to using my 7D :(

It is nice and light (to me) and with a mfd of less than a metre makes it very versitile. I did have to micro adjust it to +5 and it still needs a little more tweeking. If i take long distant shots and crop to 100% the results are not nice where with the old Sigma they were mostly still sharp, but as long as your close the results are good.

Don't get me wrong it is a very nice lens but in my opinion not worth the premium price tag, but keep in mind i was very happy with a sub $1000 lens and this one is a $2500 lens and i don't see $1500 better.

Stunning shots. I've been up to the Lake and seen White-wings and Variegateds but so far the Splendids have eluded me. Where abouts did you find these ones?
