after the storm

After the storms in south east Qld, birds were everywhere, found some scarlet honeyeaters and a yellow faced honeyeaters in the garden, both not regulars here.

That's interesting, maxhr. To what do you attribute the increase in visible bird numbers &/or activity?

Great shots, I love the Scarlet Honeyeater! I also noticed a lot of birds after the heavy rain in Sydney.

The bad weather seems to interupt their normal feeding/habits.

Yes, good hypothesis. I suppose they're out & about stocking up on food that they missed out on while sheltering from the storm. .

Quality photographs maxhr. The scarlet honeyeater is always a nice find.

We had some strong winds and heavy rain in SE Qld last night.

Cracking photos Maxhr! I found that after the rain last weekend, the Silvereyes & Grey Fantails were chasing all the insects that were everywhere. There was even a Rufous Fantail amongst them.

Thanks everyone, been trying to snap a scarlet honeyeater for years.

for some reason they were all clustered in one straggly bottle brush.

The nectar must have been perfect because i counted 6 species of honeyeater visiting this shrub.

sometimes you get lucky.
