A very curious rufous heron (correct me if I'm wrong) watched this red bellied black snake for about 15 minutes as it searched for food. It seem's niether bird nor snake felt threatened by each other.
Young Rufous Heron is very curious about this shiny black snake. by robert, on Flickr
What' this thing then? by robert, on Flickr
If I was the bird and had no idea what the snake was I would have pecked it!

I was thinking the same thing Birdy. He followed it to the log and was looking at it the whole time.
Thanks Laza. I found this spot in the middle of the Wetlands and just sat still on a log waiting for something to come along.

They're as good as David Attenborough doco shots. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Demenace....... now I'm going to fall over when I walk back out to the lounge room because of my big head :)

Wow, great shots Rob.Thanks for sharing.
Cracking photos. I had to look up what a Rufous Heron was as I had never heard of it. Turns out it is just another name for Nankeen Night Heron. You learn something every day.
Thanks guys......when I first saw the Older Nankeen Herons I could identify them but the younger ones had me scratching my head. I've never seen them before.
